This past weekend we took Luke on his very first road trip to Houston to visit his Aunt Sarah and Uncle John. I knew traveling with a 5 week old would be difficult, but I didn't realize just how exhausting it would be. For starters, who knew such a little guy needed so much stuff for just 2 short nights. By the time you pack clothes, diapers, wipes, burp cloths, blankets, formula, bottles, pack-n-play, stroller.....you have filled the entire car and barely have room for any passengers!! The sad thing is that we needed it all!! Unfortunately, the trip got off to a rough start. Luke decided that he needed to scream the first leg of the trip and any time the car slowed down the slightest bit. He was doing his best to remind us that he was in the back seat and he was NOT happy about it!
Despite the long drive, we had a great time in Houston. We weren't able to get out and do much (due to the time constraints every 2-3 hour feedings), but we enjoyed just hanging out. Sarah and John enjoyed helping out with Luke (giving Andy and I a little break) and in the mean time we played some board games, ate gelato, and the boys worked on the house. Andy, Luke and I were able to sneak away Saturday morning for breakfast with Auntie Jessica :) It is always good to see good friends!!
We are happy to announce that Colin Justus Johansen, Luke's best friend, was born on April 15, 2010. He joined Luke in the big boys club weighing in at 9lbs, 11 ozs and was 21 inches long. Little man Johansen got off to a rough start and has had some bumps along the way, but mom and dad are hoping to bring him home tomorrow (pray for a smooth "room in" tonight). We are dying to meet the little fellow!!Thankful for my family,
