Bacon

Andy made us breakfast on Saturday morning and Luke got his first taste of Wright Brand Pepper Bacon.  Turns out that Luke takes after his Aunt Brittany -- he loves bacon!

Little Helpers

These boys are too young to know that doing the dishes is not a fun thing!  Andy told me today that Luke figured out how to open the dishwasher -- oh boy!

Bumper Cars

Colin made sure he brought his walker with him when he came to stay.  Both of the boys really enjoyed running around the house bumping in to each other.  I think that Colin was a little overwhelmed by Luke's aggressive driving at first :)  Luke is the type of driver that has one speed -- full out run!  If there isn't room the first time he tries he just backs up the walker and runs faster - paving his way, so to speak.  We really enjoyed having Colin around.  Hopefully he didn't pick up too many of Luke's bad driving habits!

Little Jailbirds!

Colin and Matt came to live with us the first couple of weeks of January while Brittany was being quarantined.  It was an adjustment for Luke at first, but he he warmed up to sharing by the end of the 2 weeks!  I know that I am biased, but I am pretty sure these are 2 of the cutest little jailbirds I have ever seen!  When I put Luke in the crib next to Colin it was his instinct to start jumping -- I guess boys are just programmed to jump in the bed!!

10 Months!

Luke actually turned 10 months old while we were out of town, so as of today he is really closer to 10 & 1/2 months.

Luke now weighs 23.8lbs and was 30.5 inches tall at his last doctors visit (the last week of Dec).  He remains in the 95th percentile for his height and is hanging a little less than the 90th percentile for his weight.  He mostly wears 12 month pants and 18 month shirts and still only has one pair of shoes that fit!  He eats 3 meals a day and pretty much anything else that you give to him in between.  His favorite foods are bananas, cheese, and yogurt.  He now has 7 teeth - 4 on top and 3 on the bottom.

At 10 months old Luke is the most active non-crawler I know! He loves being on his feet and enjoys "cruising" the couch, coffee table or anything else he can find.  He has actually started using his walker as a walking toy - which makes me very nervous due to the tile floors.  He can stand for a few seconds on his own, but that is only every now and then.  He recently surprised me when he took two steps while we were at Grandmas house!  He had no idea what he was doing and pretty much lost control once he realized he wasn't holding on to anything.  Luke still loves to actually be in his walker and follow us around the house.  He is really sneaky though.  If he isn't towing something large around with him he is stealing things of shelves or out of the freezer!!

Luke is talking more and more everyday.  He isn't really using words yet, but he sure is trying!! He understands several words -- bite, eat, button, and come here are just a few of them.  He has a few really cute tricks.  When asked "how does the fishy go?" he responds with the cutest little fish face.  When asked "how does the moo cow go?" he responds with "mmmmmm" (someday he is going to surprise us when the ooo comes out!) -- he is so stinkin' cute.

One of the newer things over the past month is his SUPER love for mommy.....meaning he wants me ALL the time.  He has been throwing more an more fits when he is left with other people, when I leave the room or go to the bathroom, or when I leave the house for work.  I don't think that the fits are long lived, but it kind of makes me sad.  Guess he knows which strings to pull already :(

Curacao

Andy and I went on a vacation for our 30th birthdays/wedding anniversary last week (we both turned 30 in November and we are celebrating 5yrs of marriage this year).  We went to the island of Curacao in the Caribbean for 5 nights - all alone, no Luke.  This island is located off the northern coase of Venezuela and is near Aruba and Bonaire.  We had a really good time.  We spent the majority of our time relaxing either poolside or at the beach, but we did manage to fit in a few sights (including the ostrich farm).  While the time away was nice, we both missed our little guy.  Here are some pictures of our trip below.

Vacation to Gigi's

Andy and I went on vacation last week and Gigi was nice enough to let Luke spend 5 nights at her house.  Grandma was a big help and watched him while Gigi worked.  While we were away Luke came down with a cold (and so did Gigi and Grandma).  Apparently he had one of the worst snotty noses EVER!  Both Gigi and Grandma are still talking about it!  Don't get me wrong, I missed my baby boy terribly, but I am kind of glad he got sick on their watch ;)  It also snowed while we were gone, but Luke could only enjoy it from the window because he was sick :(  Maybe it will snow again......someday.  Here are a few pictures from his vacation.

Ginger was also keeping Colin one of the nights so he was able come over and play.

Thank you Gigi and Grandma for letting us get away.  We love you both very much and Luke is very blessed to have you in his life.  Andy and I decided that the next trip will be a family trip.....we missed him too much while we were gone.

Swim Lessons

Luke and I started a mommy and me swim lesson class at Aqua Kids the first week of January.  We will go weekly on Wednesdays for 20 weeks (which will take us right into summer).  They say that by the end of the class they will be able to "submerge" for 5-6 seconds.  We start the process of submerging at our next class - I am interested in seeing how that goes!  I hope to get some better pictures, but here are a few from our first lesson (Andy was on the other side of the glass).  There are 2 other little ones in his class, a little boy named Levi and a little girl named Abby.

Ball Pit

The Meachams (Brittany's mom and dad) sent Luke a turtle ball pit for Christmas.  It is neat because you can just zip the balls up in the turtle shell for easy storage.  Luke really had a good time playing in the balls.  Thank you Sharon and Larry!
