Flag Football

Jacob started playing flag football this year and today was his first game.  We got up bright and early and headed out to the football field to see our favorite little football star in action.  Luke really enjoyed spending the morning outside supporting Jake.

New Friend

Last weekend we were invited over to play with Luke's new friend Caleb.  We met Caleb at the beginning of this year at swim lessons.  The boys are about 1 month apart (Caleb is older) and we thought they should get together and play sometime.  Thanks to Kelly for following up and inviting our family over for an evening of fun!  Luke was a  little shy and took awhile to warm up to the idea of having fun. Although, by the end of the night I am pretty sure he cracked a smile :)  One funny thing.....they made fajitas for dinner for the adults and quesadillas for the little ones.  To give Luke a chance at tasting some other flavors Andy gave him a grilled onion.  Luke LOVED the grilled onion.  He stopped eating his quesadilla and ate a bowl full of onions instead -- who knew!!

St. Patrick's Day

Uncle Bub bought Luke a St. Patty's day shirt to wear on March 17th -- I am actually proud of myself for remembering to put it on him :)  Once we got home it was hot so I let him run around the house without his pants on.  Next thing I knew we were outside and Luke was still pantless!!  Pants or no pants this kid is cute :)

Birthday Boy

I was able to stay home and spend the day with Luke on his actual birthday.  We went to the cupcake store and then headed over to Gigi's house (see previous post for pics).  After the cupcake we spent the next hour or so out in the backyard.  Luke LOVES Gigi's back yard.  She has so many things for him to touch, lick, climb, etc.  He particularly loves the Luke sized garden ball (ba) and the wooden bird.  We had a good afternoon at Gigi's house.

Just a side note.....Luke decided that on his first birthday that he would stop being the great sleeper that he once was. He did not want to nap and he screamed (and screamed) once bedtime came around.  His birthday marked the first of what would be a five day sleep battle.  I am happy to report that my little sleeper is back and we are all much happier because of it :)

1 Year Old!

Dear Luke,

I cannot believe that it has already been 1 year since you were born.  It seems like yesterday that I was on bedrest anticipating your arrival.  This year has flown by and I would give anything to slow down time so that I can cherish each and every moment.  You are growing so fast and changing by the minute.

At one year old you weigh 24.8lbs (75th percentile) and are wearing anywhere from 12 to 24 month clothes (mostly depends on the brand).  You still love to eat most anything and always seem to want a banana if it is mentioned or if you see it.  You have made the transistion over to cow's milk, but we are still working on giving up the bottle (we are down to only 2 a day).

You learned to walk a few weeks ago and you are starting to really get the hang of it.  You can get pretty much anywhere on your own; however, you still topple over at times. You love to go outside and play and now that you know how to walk you love to walk down the sidewalk or around the patio. 

You are talking more and more everyday.  Your regular vocabulary consists of Mama, Dada, bottle (ba-ble), banana (a-nana), Grandma (randma), uh-oh, Papa, Nana, gumball (um-ba), ball (ba), button, diaper (iper), bite (bithe), night night, come on.....I'm sure I am leaving something out.  You also are understanding many new words.  You can point to your ear, mouth, toes, head, eye, tongue and belly.

We have enjoyed being your parents over this past year.  You have truly been a blessing to our family. We love you tremendously and we are looking forward to a lifetime full of joy.

Sunday Lunch

Nana made lunch a few weekends ago and we were able to go over and meet Luke's new second cousin Brooklyn.  She was born on January 21st and she makes Nana's 11th Great Grandkid!! 

At the Park

After Luke's birthday party we decided to take the new tricycle for a spin at the park.  It was a little cold outside so we weren't able to stay long, but we still had a great time!  Papa thank you for the tricycle -- Luke LOVES it!!

Luke's 1st Birthday Party!

We celebrated Luke's 1st birthday party on Saturday, March 5th at Gigi's house.  We invited mostly family and a just a few friends for the event.  Luke did so well -- I think we owe this to the 2 hour nap he had before the party started!  He didn't cry or throw a fit and he even didn't mind us all singing happy birthday to him.  All in all it was a great day with friends and family.  Thank you to everyone who was able to be apart of his special day.
