From Baylee & Rylee

Baylee and Rylee sent Luke a Little People Nativity set for Christmas.  We look forward to many years of pulling out this special toy and playing with it during the weeks before Christmas.  Thank you to Baylee and Rylee for thinking of Luke and sending him his first Christmas present all the way from Oklahoma!!

Makayla's Visit

Last week Makayla came over for the evening so that Christina could finish up her Christmas shopping.  I learned something really fast.....I am NOT ready to have 2 kids!!  I  was exhausted (did I mention that Andy was out of town hunting with my brother?)  Luke and Makayla played together really well and I enjoyed having her around.  She is getting so big and was a big help with Luke.  While she was here we ate McDonalds, went to the movie store and rented Wow, Wow Wubbzy, and played in the bathtub.  All in all, it was a fun evening.  I love my niece!

From Ryder

We came home one day last week to a gift from Ryder in our mail box.  The cookies tasted delicious.  Thank you Ryder!

9 Months!

 Ok, its really like 9 & 1/2 months as of today, but you get the point........

It is amazing how much Luke has changed over the last 6 weeks!!  For starters he has 6 teeth!  He cut his 2 front teeth over the past week and a half or so.  It is crazy to think that he is going to have a mouth full of SHARP little chompers in the next couple of months!  My baby has turned into a little boy :(

Luke is still growing like a weed.  He weighs 23 lbs, which puts him a little less than 90th percentile.  He has his 9 month check up on the 27th and we will get his official height and weight then.  He is mostly wearing 12-18 month clothes and we FINALLY found a pair of shoes to fit his foot (size 4 - the widest you can find)! 

Luke still is not crawling or really showing an iterest in doing so.  We showed him how to get up on all fours, but most of the time he cries while doing it.  On the other hand, Luke loves to stand up!  He can actually stand up all by himselft for several seconds before he falls!!  I have a feeling that we may just bypass the whole crawling thing......it really is overrated these days :) 

Over the past couple of weeks we have been introducing table food to his diet.  He still primarily eats baby food and formula, but he sure is enjoying tasting new things.  His favorite thing still has to be bananas, but now he can share with me!

Luke is such a loving little boy and we are so proud to be his parents!!



Santa at the Park

We took Luke to see Santa at the park a couple of weeks ago.  Luke did okay at first, but once he realized that a furry man was holding him he kind of freaked out....can't say that I blame him.

Colin's Blocks

We went over to the Johansen's house recently and Colin was nice enough to share his Noah's Ark blocks with Luke.....hope he doesn't mind the slobber!

Buck and Biscuits

Luke has been playing with a new toy lately....Buck.  This was actually one of Makayla's bath toys that she played with at our house, but Luke has taken it over.  He loves playing with Buck and he is looking forward to the day he can go hunting with Uncle Bub!

Luke got his first taste of buttermilk biscuits last Saturday morning when Dad made breakfast.  It was the first time that we all set down as a family and ate the same breakfast!! 

 

 

Eating Dirt

I knew it was going to happen sooner or later, but I wasn't expecting it so soon.......my sweet little boy ate DIRT! He was in his walker while I was putting up the tree and the next thing I knew he was eating right out of the pot! He sure is cute, even when he eats dirt!!

Wagon

Papa is going to be in Colombia this year for Christmas so he gave Luke his Christmas present early.....a Radio Flyer Wagon!!!! The first night Luke was only able to sit in it briefly, but the next morning we took it for a spin (around the house)! Luke really liked the tour of the house with his favorite toys in hand. Thanks Papa!!

Cracker

Luke got his first taste of a club cracker and he seemed to like it!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Again, I am really behind in my postings - but better late than never, right?

Luke spent his first Thanksgiving at GiGi's house. My mom decided that she would host the event this year and boy did my family show up!! She fed 49 mouths that day -- CRAZY!!! Andy's family was able to come over, too, so it was really great to have everyone in one place.

The not so great part about Thanksgiving was that Luke was still sick and he had a ROUGH day. I am pretty sure he ended up getting 3 baths that day (if you can use baths as a sickness indicator). He was very clingy and wanted Mommy and Daddy ONLY. He didn't get to eat the baby food Turkey and Cranberries that I bought him, but we went ahead and put his Thanksgiving bib on for good measure (see only pic of him in it below with Uncle Bub trying to make him happy). On the bright side, by the end of the night he did find some energy and was able to jump and smile for about 30 minutes (this gave us a false sense of hope that the sickness was over -- wishful thinking).

Aunt Sarah

My Sick Baby

Luke came down with his first illness last week and man was it a doozie! It all started with vomiting and then slowly transitioned over to diarrhea. All in all it lasted from Saturday to Saturday, which meant we had a sick baby on Thanksgiving :( It broke my heart to see him feel so terrible. I have never wished to have diarrhea, but I would have given anything to have had the GI bug instead of him. He maintained his happy go lucky self during the first part of the week, but became very cranky and clingy as the week progressed -- who can blame him? We ended up taking him to the doctor for his first "sick visit" the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to make sure he wasn't getting too dehydrated. Turns out Andy and I were doing a good job pushing the Pedialyte - and believe me, it wasn't an easy task! Here are a few pictures of him playing in his Ducky while he was still feeling semi well early in the week. I am so happy that he is feeling better.

Teething

I am way behind in my posts.....

Luke cut his third tooth about a week and a half ago!! Since then he has been chewing on just about anything he can get in his mouth. He even tried to chew on Andy's nose! Here are some pictures documenting his chewing spree and fresh hair cut. Gigi and Gin-Gin helped me cut his locks before his Christmas pictures. It is crazy to see so much blonde hair!
