Buddies

Luke really loves Bella! He is happy just laying there and putting his hand in her mouth. Bella, of course, is loving all of the attention (her spot on the totem pole dropped significantly when Luke was born). I think this is the beginning of a life long friendship!

20 weeks and so many changes

This past week has been a big week for Luke! It seems like over night he just started talking up a storm. It is so cute. He is totally happy laying on the floor talking to whoever or whatever will listen (me, Andy, Bella, toys, Mr. fan, etc). He has continued to roll over from back to tummy, but is now on a strike from rolling from tummy to back. He is such a joy to watch. The last new thing this week is him loving on his blankie. He just instinctively knew to put it under his arm and cuddle with it.....melts my heart!! Add all of this to his first hair cut and mastering rice cereal he had quite a week......slow down!!!

First Hair Cut

Luke got his first hair cut yesterday! As you all know he has had super crazy hair since the day he was born. Over time he has slowly rubbed the sides bald, but managed to keep the crazy tupee on top. After much debate, Andy and I decided it was time to trim it up. Thankfully Amy was happy to help us out and give Luke his first cut before it was Dad's turn!! I was nervous at first, but I am so happy we did it. He looks SO cute!!

Luke finally got to meet his girlfriends this weekend! While here in Oklahoma we have been able to spend a lot of time with Baylee and Rylee. We even had a chance to meet little Avery! I know that Luke enjoyed hanging with his new friends because he took the opportunity to show off. While at Winter's house he rolled over from back to tummy for the very first time and I got to witness it with my very own eyes!! I was so excited!. He did it a couple of times in a row.....we'll see if he remembers his new trick tomorrow!

Oklahoma!

Andy, Luke and I are currently in Oklahoma for the weekend. This is the first out of state trip for Luke and also the first time he has stayed in a hotel. To say the least, we have learned a few things about traveling with an infant and staying in a hotel. The top thing on our list has to do with the actual hotel room itself. I now know that we need to request a NON-handicap room away from the elevators. As you may have guessed, we ended up in a handicap room across from the elevators (we tried to switch rooms). Turns out that the handicap room comes with a handicap accessible bathroom, including the tub. Well, actually, lack of tub - our room was appropriately equipped with a 'roll in' shower. Normally this would not have mattered, but we have a son who likes his bath and needs it to wind down before bed. We were faced with an interesting dilemma - put the kid on the shower floor and hose him down, shower with him in our hands, or use the sink......what did we opt for?? THE SINK!! Luke was so cute sitting in the sink for his bath. I am pretty sure he even liked it! I love that we have a kid that rolls with the punches!

4 Month Visit

Luke went to the doctor on Monday for his 4 month check up. He weighed in at.......drum roll please.....17 pounds, 10 ounces (slightly less than the 90th percentile)!!! He is also 26 3/8 inches long and his head is 44.5 cm around (both of these are the 95th percentile). I told you he was a growing boy!

The High Chair

Week 18 and my baby is back to normal! He is again sleeping through the night -- Hallelujah, God is good!! We finally got his high chair out of the box yesterday to help with the addition of cereal to our dinner routine. He looks so big sitting in his chair! So far the cereal is going pretty good. Some days he gobbles it up and others he isn't as interested. The only sure thing is that he likes it warm -- do you blame him? One last thing, Luke made the switch to his 6 to 9 month sleepers this past week -- he is so long. I am looking forward to his appointment on Monday to see how big he has grown!!

Makayla, Love Her!

4 Months Old!

Luke is 4 months old today! He weighs in at 16lbs, 13 oz per our home scale, which puts him between the 75th and 90th perecentiles. This is all unofficial though, as the real weigh in comes at his 4 month appointment on July 19th (stay tuned).

Today was a milestone for Luke - he tried rice cereal for the very first time!! He has been showing signs of being ready to try cereal, so we figured today would be a good day. To do this we stripped him down, put him in his bouncer (covered by a towel) and put the biggest bib we could find on him. He didn't really know what to think of it at first, but he caught on pretty quick. I would say that he did really well for his first time. Of course, he wore a lot of it and rubbed his fists in it.....so cute! Luke also graduated to stage 2 nipples this week. This has really decreased the time for him to suck a bottle down - yay!

At 4 months old Luke is learning new things every day. He loves to play with his toys, jump in his entertainer/bouncer, stick his fingers in Bella's mouth, and, of course, watch Mr. Fan. He is a happy boy with a big smile. He laughs a lot, especially when I tickle him. He can roll over from tummy to back, but doesn't seem interested in going the other way. He is super cute and he is on his way to being the boy with a mohawk (the hair on the sides of his head is rubbing off in his sleep).

Aunt Sarah

Luke was 17 weeks old yesterday! Aunt Sarah came in to town to celebrate the wonderful occasion. Well she actually came up to pick up Makayla to take to Houston, but while she was here she loved on Luke a lot. For those of you who were wondering - Andy asked me when I was going to stop counting in weeks.......my response was 52 weeks. If it bothers you I am sorry. I have committed myself to blogging at least once a week for the first year, so I figured I might as well do it by weeks.

This week has been rough for Luke. He just hasn't been himself. He is eating a lot less than normal and he isn't sleeping well either. We have been up with him for the past 4 nights in a row. I MISS my little sleeper!! I sure hope this phase passes soon!

Happy 4th of July!

It never seems like a holiday when you have to work all weekend :( When I work Luke is in the hands of his daddy. Luckily for Andy, there are a lot of people around who wouldn't mind a visit from my boys! Yesterday Andy and Luke went to Grandma's house so that Andy could change his brake pads. While they were there Andy managed to have a wire hanger enter and exit his middle finger (it makes me cringe everytime I think about it). The good news is that he is fine, the bad news is that we had to pay $50 for a tetanus shot and a script for some antibiotics......oh, and that his finger is pretty sore today, too.

Today Andy and Luke went to church -- a round of applause for Andy is in order. I am really proud of him for getting the 2 of them dressed, ready, and out the door. After church, the 2 of them made their way to Ginger's to celebrate the 4th. Luke celebrated with a 3 hour nap and Andy was able to relax and enjoy some family time.

All in all it seems like they had a good weekend. Luke was exhausted and ready for bed by 7:30pm! I hope he sleeps all night long :)
