Too Cool!

This is a picture that Andy sent to me this morning while I was at work. He is definitely the coolest kid I know!

Happy Father's Day!

Today was Andy's first Father's day! We spent the day between church, family and home. Luke got Andy a new pair of shoes and gave him a card with his little hand traced in it. Sundays are shaping up to be a hard day for Luke. His schedule is off, he only takes little naps in the car and then spends the majority of the day fussy because he is tired. I have tried to convince him that he would feel better if he would just sleep, but it is hard to reason with a 3 month old! Despite this little hiccup, today was a great day!

I feel like I should take the time to thank Andy for being such a great dad to Luke. He has been in the trenches with me the entire time. He helps where he is needed and truly loves being Luke's daddy. I enjoy watching Andy be a dad and I am thankful to have him as my husband.

The many faces of Luke

Playtime!

Over the past week Luke has started to play with his toys. He now reaches out to grab them and swat at them. The cutest thing is that he talks to them!! I was able to witness playtime today for the first time and it absolutely melted my heart. I even started to tear up a bit thinking about how much I am missing while I am at work. He is growing way too fast.

14 Weeks

Luke can now sit in his Bumbo chair! Yes, his Bumbo chair is purple. Enough said.

1/4 Year!

Luke is 3 months old today - one quarter of a year!! At 3 months old Luke is 15lbs, 6.5ozs, which places him in the 90th percentile for his age. If he continues to grow at the same rate the growth curve predicts him to be 26lbs at 1 year old!! Luke is continuing to learn new things every day. He is laughing out loud, swatting at toys, and interacting more with people. He can recognize my face and hear my voice from across the room. He has complete control of his head and can now sit in his entertainer/bouncer for long periods of time. He loves swinging in his swing, watching his mobile, and being held where he can see the world. One thing that Andy and I are surprised about is how much this kid loves TV. We are not intentionally placing him in front of the TV, but the child will contort himself in any way possible to see the picture box. I think this stems from his love for light - or at least I hope so. Andy and I will have to keep a close eye on him in the future because he has the serious potential to become a couch potato!

The best thing that I have to report is that Luke has been consistently sleeping through the night since May 29th -- he really knows how to make Mom happy!! Andy puts him to bed around 8:30-9:00pm and I have to wake him up at 6:00am to feed him before I leave for work. I know that we will still have many a sleepless night ahead of us, but I am thankful for any and all nights we can sleep uninterrupted from start to finish.

13 Weeks + 1 Baby Blake

I know at some point you are supposed to stop counting by weeks and switch to months, but for now, and maybe until forever, I am counting in weeks. Luke is 13 weeks old and one big boy! I swear he has grown a lot during this past week. His little cheeks are so full and so cute. He is just one big bundle of joy.

Luke's latest trick is laughing out loud. He has laughed previously, but for the first time a few days ago Andy was able to get him to laugh out loud over and over. There isn't a better sound in the world than the sound of baby laughter. I quickly grabbed the video camera and was able to capture this moment forever on video. Wow, I am such a mom....

Luke had another friend make his grand entrance into the world today - Baby Blake!! This is Lance and Lindsey's new addition and we can't wait to meet the little guy!

Oh, My Aching Tooth!

I am sad, make that very sad, to report that I have a cavity :( The little booger has developed between 2 of my teeth and I am in PAIN!! It is extremely sensitive to hot and cold - any small temperature change sends an electrical current through my jaw and into my ear. IT HURTS!!! This means that I cannot eat or drink anything that is not room temperature. Do you know how hard this is? I have taken to eating room temperature grilled cheeses. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE cheese, but I am TIRED of room temperature cheese :( So let me answer the question you all are asking -- YES, I have gone to the dentist. The bad news is that I cannot get it fixed until THURSDAY!! Until then I am trying to get full on the most random room temperature things I can find.

Back to the Grind

Today was my first day back at work and I am TIRED!! Luke was extra sweet to me and slept through the night, which definitely helped, but this working mom thing is going to be tough (hats off to all my working mom friends).

I have been dreading this day since I had Luke only 12 short weeks ago. Its not that I don't like my job or the people I work with, it is that I really love being Luke's mom. I like spending my days with him helping him to learn and watch him grow. I know I can still be a great mom and work at the same time, but I can't help but think I am going to be missing out on so many things.

On the bright side, once I got to work this morning the anxiety eased and I felt as though I was there last week -- okay, not last week, but not that long ago. It was good to see friends and share pics of my little guy. I even got a new desk so I can proudly display Lukes pictures!! Another great thing is that I felt extra skinny this morning. Last time I put scrubs on they barely fit and I definitely did not have to tie them to keep them up. Also, I had to tighten the laces on my sneakers to keep them on my feet. I treasure the small things these days!!

For those of you who might be wondering, Andy's mom will be the primary caretaker of Luke while I am at work. However, she won't be taking on this role until June 21st. Until then Luke will be watched by Aunt Christina, Cousin Robyn, and Gigi -- depending on the day. The good news is that we have lots of loving people that don't mind watching him every now and then!

Oh, one last thing -- Luke taught me something very important this morning -- do not get dressed until AFTER you feed him!!
