Gressett Turns 30!

Last month we all got together to celebrate Sarah's (Rah-rah's) 30th birthday.  We ate at the India Grill in Arlington and then headed over to Pinkberry for some frozen yogurt.  Luke, as always, enjoyed all the bites he was able to get off of everyone's ice cream!  Thanks to Sarah for bringing a camera so that we have a couple of pictures from the afternoon.

Shopping Cart Goes Vroom!

A couple of weeks ago I decided to let Luke ride in the car cart at the grocery store.  He was so excited to ride it in like a big boy.  It is a double seater so he sat in the middle.  While we were shopping Luke honked both horns and waved/shouted at all the people as if he were in a parade!  He loved it!!!  We went back to Albertson's a few days ago and as soon as he saw the car he started saying "vroom, vroom" and I couldn't resist!  I guess we are going to be putting that car cart to good use for the next few years.

4th of July

This was the first Independence Day in several years that I have been off of work.  We enjoyed spending the day as a family.  Since it was so hot outside Andy and I decided to take Luke to McDonald's for some play time.  This was the first time that he was big enough to actually play in the toddler area with the other kids.  He seemed to really enjoy it.  At one point Andy had to save a little girl from being tackled by Luke (Luke loves to tackle Jacob when he is on the ground and I guess he feels that he should tackle any kid that is on the ground!).  Here is a picture of him playing in the car.

Later on that evening we let Luke play in the sprinkler in the back yard.  He wasn't too sure about the sprinkler, but seemed to enjoy it okay.  I think he actually likes to carry the hose around better and water the plants and/or himself.

We love this little kid and can't wait to have baby brother here for our next 4th of July!

Turner Falls

I found the adapter to get the pictures off of my camera!!!  Here are some pictures of the time we spent at Turner Falls while we were in Oklahoma.  The day was trying, to say the least, and we definitely learned how to plan better for our next trip to the park! Despite the chaos, we managed to have a good time!

Ice Cream

At the end of June Mom and I took Luke to his 15 month appointment (which was actually closer to 16 months).  This was the first appointment that Luke knew what was going on.  As soon as the nurse called us back he turned on the tears.  For a distraction Gigi gave him her keys with a whistle on it.  He was so cute going down the hallway blowing the whistle in between cries.  He got the attention of all the office ladies!!  At the visit Luke weighed in at 26lbs, 9ozs (~75th percentile) and was 33 1/8 inches tall (90th percentile).  His head circumference was on the chart, but just barely!

The doctor was very impressed with Luke's progress at this visit.  He seemed shocked that he uses so many words regularly (way too many to count and most kids at this age only have 3-5 words).  He was also impressed that Luke opened his mouth and said Ahhh -- too cute!

After his appointment we took Luke to Carvels for an ice cream treat.  It was buy one get one sundae free night so Luke had the pleasure of sharing both a vanilla and a chocolate sundae with Mommy and Gigi!  This boy loves ice cream!  He was definitely working the bites.  It was hard to tell which sundae he preferred because he was an equal opportunity biter!

Arbuckle Wilderness

We spent our Sunday afternoon before leaving Oklahoma at Arbuckle Wilderness, a drive through wilderness zoo.  Luke, for the most part, wasn't as interested in the animals as he was in his animal crackers :)  In fact, Luke didn't like it when the animals got too close to the car.  After we drove through the zoo we walked the little path around the pond.  Luke did pretty good, but was loosing steam by the time we were done. We will have to go back someday when the animals aren't as scary!

Family Weekend in OK

I have been holding out on updating the blog until I could get some picures off my little camera.  Turns out I have lost the adapter and the pictures are currently being held hostage.  I didn't post the entire month of July so I am going to have to move forward with what I have and update the blog later when I can get the pics.....

At the end of June we went for a family weekend in Davis, Oklahoma.  My mom, sister, brother, and aunt (and their families of course) were all able to come.  We found a cozy little lake house on VRBO.com that slept everyone.....it was great!  We had a really great time with family and I know Luke loved hanging around with his cousins.  He actually developed a love affair with his Nin-Nin (Robyn) while we were there.  Turns out that Nin-Nin even trumps Gigi.....and that is a big deal!

While we were there we mostly just spent time together.  We went swimming at Lake of the Arbuckles on Friday, went to Turner Falls on Saturday, and concluded the weekend at Arbuckle Wilderness on Sunday (see next post).  I am so thankful to have such a great family.  We had a really great time and we look forward to next summer's family weekend......Sarah said she was going to plan something closer to Houston.

Pool Party!

The Johansen's recently had us over for a pool party.  Luke really enjoyed the sun deck and steps to play on.  Colin enjoyed lounging as well!  I wish I would have taken more pictures, but I didn't trust myself in the water with the camera.
